Biome Broth Ingredients
- 1 large piece of Kombu (calcium and iodine)
- 1 cup chopped Carrots (Vitamin A and K)
- 1 cup chopped Celery (Vitamin A)
- 1/3 cup dried Shiitake Mushrooms and/or Reishi Mushrooms (Powdered mushrooms can be used 1tsp) (Immune Boosting, also containing Selenium)
- 1-inch of Fresh Ginger (Digestive Aid)
- 2 TB Nutritional Yeast (Vitamin B1, B2, B12)
- 2 TB Olive Oil (Healthy Fat)
- 3 TB Tamari (Umami flavor)
- 1/4 teaspoon powdered Turmeric (I use fresh, same amount as Ginger) (Inflammation fighter)
- I also add 1/2 onion and a couple of cloves of garlic (Rich in Vitamin C)
- 8 cups water
Directions
Simmer all ingredients in a stock pot for 2 hours. Let cool and then strain through a mesh strainer and store in glass containers. Store in refrigerator for up to 7 days.
To enjoy a cup of Biome Broth, warm 2 cups of the broth adding 2 tsp freshly grated ginger, and 2 tsp miso paste. For a hearty mug add scallions, tofu, roasted mushrooms and kale. Makes 8 cups of broth. Adapted from Fiber Fuel, written by Will Bulsiewicz.
